It printed, supports came off easy.
I made a model with feet…yours…and another without feet.

Did the same thing again at the same place. When it’s filling in the feet it just goes off the model. Also, I did tighten the front knob.
I’m not sure if this is normal, but when the extruder is moving around it will make a loud noise like gears grinding.
Just something to verify- are all of the hard foam shipping blocks removed from under the bed. They are hard to see and if one was left, it could cause issues.
That sound is the stepper motor “loosing counts”
You should reach out to Sovol support as your printer is brand new.
Turn off the printer and use your hand to move the bed forward and back. There will be a small notchy feel due to the magnets in the stepper motor BUT it should be consistent along the whole travel. Any rough spots indicate a mechanical problem.
You’re right, it’s been a long time since this problem was reported again.
You need to turn the printer over to see the foam block.
Yes, this ![]()
Ok. Definitely not any foam blocks left. The bed manually moves smoothly back and forth consistently along the whole travel. It was in the process of layering the four feet, going from one foot to the next, when the head suddenly jumped out a couple of inches to the front of the bed and layed down the two extra feet you see in the pic.
Lion, since you were able to print this, and I am trying to print exactly the same .3mf, it would appear that I’ve got a hardware problem. Sounds like a manufacturing problem since it sounds like you all have seen this before. What would be the best way to contact SOVOL?
Also, unrelated to this problem, I am not able to connect the printer to my W10 or W11 computer over the LAN. My router sees it but not the computer. I could connect it via a USB cable, but something I read said that can cause a power spike back to the PC??
Include your order#
If you bought VIA Amazon Sovol has a separate support team you can contact VIA Amazon support.
While you are waiting make a couple mechanical checks:
Shake your extruder up and down. Is it loose?
Heat up to print temp and torque the nozzle.
If you think it’s really a printer issue, you can contact Sovol by sendind an email at info@sovol3d.com with your order number and pics of the issues.
They will contact within a week.
Once the ACE is connected to Wi-Fi…
You either have to use the IP in a browser window or enter the IP into Orca.
I want to thank everyone here for their help. I’m pretty disappointed with the printer as it appears that this is a problem that people have experienced before. My guess is that it is a manufacturing problem which usually shows up in batches, which begs the question as to whether it is worth the risk to purchase another SV06 ACE or move on to another brand.
This wasn’t all a waste of time since this is my first foray into 3D printing and I was able to learn a lot thanks to you folks.
Hello,
Learning how to print in 3D is not that easy.
It takes a lot of time to understand all the parameters and settings, and even after several years, there is still a lot to learn.
So you have to spend a lot of time to it if you want to master your printer; you can’t do it in a few days.
Keep that in mind before changing your printer.
Sovol does tend to have some quality issues but they will work with you to fix them.
Sovol does have the BEST hardware for the price of any I’ve seen.
A corollary to the above is that Sovol tends to skimp on research/development/testing. Those things add cost to a printer (See Bambu).
My fear is if I get another SV06 ACE it may have the same problems as this one. If this is indeed a manufacturing problem, they tend to run in batches. My assumption all along has been that the problem I was having was probably mine because of my inexperience.
Have you tried contacting sovol at info@sovol3d.com ?
They will certainly help you within a week.
Don’t forget to provide them with your order number and a description of your issue.
Yes, I’m waiting to hear back. Thanks.
Save your money for something more reliable and not so cheep. I have had the ace for about 6 months and I kick myself everyday for not saving and buying something decent. I have more failed prints than successful prints. Just when you think you have everything dialed in something breaks or an update happens that changes 1 or all of your settings and you spend 3 days like I am now trying to get everything dialed back in just to print something. I am about to cut my losses and toss mine in the trash. I could have bought a Bamboo printer by now with the amount of money I have wasted on parts and filament on this garbage.
I’ve pretty much come to that conclusion. I don’t mind spending the extra money. Just need to do my research. I was staying away from Bambu because it wasn’t open source but maybe that doesn’t matter that much. Any suggestions?
“Open Source” is another way of saying “community developed”
Bambu spent 9 months running 300 mules tuning code for their last printer. That costs $$$. No way they are going to put that open source.
The conjugate is the selling price has to recover development costs.
The question is do you want a printing appliance that prints most models nearly perfectly BUT can’t deal with the occasional oddball, or a completely upgradeable platform you can do anything with.
Yeah I dont think that matters. The only thing with bamboo is I do remember seeing something new about the updates or maybe its the open source thing that is causing an issue with the community. But I would take that over sovol if its just the open source thing.
