I received my printer a couple weeks ago. I am able to print smaller projects with minimal issues but when I print anything larger the printer will randomly stop and become completely unresponsive, beeping periodically. Its happened 3 times so far, each at a different height. Do I need to just reinstall the firmware? Is it caused by printing over wifi? Any ideas?
It could be a corrupted operating system in the Klipad. The “firmware” for the Klipad is a complete Armbian (Lunix) installation + klipper and several other programs.
The MCU firmware is on the mainboard inside the printer base. MCU errors should NOT be able to crash Linux.
You’ll need a EMMC adapter to rewrite the Klipad OS. Open a support ticket by emailing info@sovol3d.com. Include your order number.
If you don’t want to wait on shipping from China the EMMC adapter is $10 on Amazon.
Old thread, but it was most likely the MksPi CPU in the Klipad overheating and triggering a shutdown rather than something software.
You can add monitoring to the software or a cooling fan (I did both here: The Sv07 is still an amazing deal... but here is how you fix a brand new one), but for a simple “hands off” test if that was your issue, just take the screen off the bracket by sliding it upwards to expose its vent and aim a powerful fan at it, try a long print. If you no longer crash, you have your answer.
A lot less drastic than taking anything apart or flashing firmware, where a stuff up will turn your printer into a paperweight, and even if you don’t make it worse you’ve cratered your chances of claiming warranty for a defect.
