SV06 Plus Klipper boot screen stuck in a loop - Is Sovol trying to pull one over on me or is their product really that bad?

I, like many of you, have encountered the nightmare of the never-ending boot loop. After weeks of wrestling with this issue, I’ve been in daily communication with Sovol, and I’d like to share the “help” they’ve provided me. Hopefully, this will save others some frustration (though I can’t promise miracles). :man_facepalming:

Here’s a summary of my correspondence with Sovol:

Initial Issue: After successfully installing Klipper and enjoying a couple of months of smooth operation, the printer abruptly stopped mid-print. When I rebooted the printer, it entered the dreaded boot loop. Attempts to reload firmware through various methods (following guides from Sovol, forums, and Reddit) didn’t solve the problem, and I couldn’t even access the printer via its IP address. I asked Sovol for guidance and also whether the firmware could be updated via a direct USB-PC connection instead of an SD or USB drive.

Sovol’s Advice & My Experience:

  • Sovol suggested reloading the firmware using a deb file and the USB port on the screen (key point, they emphasized). Despite trying this with multiple formatted USB drives and ports, the loop persisted.
  • I reverted to Marlin firmware, which allowed the printer to function temporarily, but attempts to reinstall Klipper brought the boot loop back.
  • Sovol provided a refresh tutorial (again), which I followed meticulously, allowing the process to run for hours. Unfortunately, it yielded no success.
  • After more back and forth, they diagnosed the issue as a potential problem with the Emmc module and offered a replacement—for $20 plus shipping.

While I appreciate Sovol’s efforts, it feels…convenient that a product works perfectly for a while, only to self-destruct and require additional paid repairs just outside the warranty window. How many other users have faced this issue, and how is Sovol addressing it? This doesn’t inspire confidence in their product or service.

For anyone else in the same situation, I hope sharing my journey helps. Stay persistent, and may your troubleshooting adventures end more successfully than mine have so far!

I assume your host is a Klipad50. I have one dedicated to my SV07. My recommendation is go to github and search on klipad50… I’ve successfully got mine running current Armbian and mainstreem Klipper but it took help.

For what it’s worth a 32GB emmc module AND usb adapter is less than US$15 on alliexpress. Software and etcher app are free at github.

Thanks for the quick response, I will check it out!
