Bricked my printer - can't recover

Hey everyone!
I kinda bricked my SV07, no luck with the usual recovery tutorials yet.
but to start at the beginning:
I wanted to add a webcam to the printer, for which I followed this official doc:

It all went fine, until the reboot step. As soon as I did that, the klipper screen could not boot anymore. (I also cant reach the mainsail interface, nor can I ssh into the printer.)

Now sometimes I get part of the startup animation, but mostly I just get a black screen and a high pitched whining noise. After some research I read that this is not a super unusual thing to happen, so I tried factory resetting according to this:

No dice there of course. Next I tried to get into the thing through a physical connection. I can get putty to initialize a serial connection, but after a few seconds it crashes again. - see the added file for the logs i got from that. After some more tinkering, I can now reliably access u-boot, meaning I can intercept the boot process, but at this point I reached the end of my capabilities (and of my ability to stay awake yesterday lol).

I read a bit more this morning and found Tomas Olsson’s tutorial on how to recover the thing. however, it seems to rely on getting a working ssh connection, which I can’t get.
(I know flashing is normally done with an USB-eMMC adapter, but I don’t have one on hand and its the weekend, so ordering one would mean getting it sometime next week anyway.)
I have mailed support, but haven’t gotten anything back yet.

Can any of you fine people help me here? I really love this machine & wanted to start making some chrismas gifts soon and now its broken :frowning:
I’ll be really thankful for any and all pointers y’all can give me!

Sorry to disappoint you, but the best way to recover your printer is to reflash it, otherwise you may end up with a workaround that could be worse than the current situation.

It’s a shame, but you’ll need to get an eMMC adapter first.

Good luck

Do you have a USB keyboard you can plug in? Hold the spacerbar down and soft restart using the button on the side. Can you get the “Boot from USB” prompt.

Do you have any PC hardware you can repurpose? I use a Microsoft Surface Go as a host for my SV07. Mainline Klipper works ALL the SV07 hardware. Anything that can run Linux can be used. Mobileraker can make your phone into a (somewhat klunky) kliperscreen replacement OR do everything VIA Mainsail. Don’t forget new host will have a different IP address.

Hah, I tried flashing from USB! It started, then it crashed, gave the high pitched noise and then it crashed completely. At this point i cant even get into the boot loader anymore. So whatever happened, I think its now completely fried.

Maybe I’ll try the phone route? I don’t have anything else lying around that would make sense I think

though wait - I cannot access mainsail anymore. at least not through the old IP address. would that mean that the chip in the printer is fried, or just that the network connection is somehow not working?
Edit: Ah I see, mainsail also runs on the klipper screen. since its not accessible anymore it likely means its not only klipper thats dead.
2nd edit: i bought an emmc adapter - it’ll take a few days to arrive anyway. so if support is not helpful, then I can at least try that

@sovol3d , do you have any info..??

after dozens of retries, I got back into the boot menu, but of course that’s what happens when I try booting from usb .-.

  1. You can download the file corresponding to your device model from the link provided, copy it to a USB drive, open the machine, wait 5 minutes, insert the USB drive into the USB port on the screen, and wait for completing the refresh.
  1. If refreshing the file from this link does not resolve the issue, consider replacing the eMMC.
