Sv06+ klipper conversion - now ramming bed

Got the sovol klipper pad and the change over went fine. Went through the bed levelling no problems.

Printed an excellent benchy using these settings: GitHub - Ace3DPrints/sv06plus: Sovol SV06 Plus Mainsail/Klipper/Orcaslicer Profile

But at the end of the print when the printer head homed, the X-Y was correct, but the head went into the bed and kept trying to go further.

I tried to manually adjust the z-height to +25, but the screen (and mkspi in orca) says “must home axis first: 0.000 0.000 25.000 [0.000]”

Pushing the home all button on the screen drags the nozzle across the bed to x=0 then y=0, then back to the middle and pushes down into the bed again. I have to emergency stop (bottom left button) and reset.

How can I manually adjust the z-height without homing first?

Anything else I need to keep in mind to fix this?

(I also didn’t change the g-code over as per the instructions—I think this might be what casued the problems? I just wasn’t sure about deleting all the start and end code that was there…)

thanks in advance!

Just an update with the solution, in case anyone else gets into the same trouble. The problem was that the probe was not registering even when the nozzle was against the bed. I tested that the probe still worked by placing a piece of metal (the lifting tool that came with the printer) directly against the bottom of the probe and the red light on its side turned off.

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Gently but firmly move the gantry up by hand by applying upward pressure to the bottom of the blue plastic pieces around the z-screws.
  3. Make sure that the extruder head is level (it can rotate if it is being pushed into the bed).
  4. (if needed) Loosen the small hex screw above the probe, and gently lower the probe a little. Make sure that it doesn’t go lower than the fan conduit (the black plastic that’s around the nozzle).
  5. Turn the printer back on.
  6. Redo the z-offset and bed mesh.
