SV06 Ace Plus suitable for carbon fiber filaments?

Sooner or later, I’d like to print carbon fiber filaments (PLA-CF, PETG-CF) with my new SV06 Ace Plus.I know that I can’t use the standard brass nozzle and should therefore use a hardened steel nozzle.

But what about the extruder?

Is the hotend, filament transport, gearing of the SV06 Ace Plus suitable for carbon fiber filaments? Should I expect the gears and hot end to sustain damage in the short term due to increased wear?

kind regards
Claus

All you need to do is replace the nozzle.

As Lion already wrote, PLA and PETG are no problem. However, carbon fiber requires a hardened nozzle with a diameter larger than 0.4 mm, if possible. Unfortunately, Sovol only offers a 0.4 mm steel nozzle, which is prone to clogging.

Also, remember to increase the heat of the hotend about 10* when using a hardened nozzle or it will clog.

Nozzles! What a mess.

According the PDF Sovol put on Github the Ace nozzle is 23.5mm long.

That is the same length as my SV07 except the 2mm of thread removed on the Ace nozzle. The end of the Ace heatbreak is flat

https://github.com/Sovol3d/SV06-ACE/blob/main/PDF/JXHMP3A02-08010-a%20%E9%92%9B%E5%90%88%E9%87%91%E5%B1%9E%E5%96%89%E7%AE%A1(%E5%A3%81%E5%8E%9A0.35mm)(%E5%B8%A6%E5%8F%B0%E9%98%B6).pdf

So assuming the heat block is threaded all the way through the hardened nozzles for the SV07 should work.

I have successfully used “K1” (23mm) nozzles on my SV07. I was also able to get some use out of a “volcano” (21mm) nozzle but the fan duct was too close to the build plate and would knock prints loose.

As for temperature offset, bi-metal nozzles are your friend. Only the very tip is hardened steel. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807039268000.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.1.4892Av8ZAv8ZxE&algo_pvid=78d7cd18-aca3-42f9-a125-b6483540b456&algo_exp_id=78d7cd18-aca3-42f9-a125-b6483540b456-0&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22order%22%3A%221037%22%2C%22eval%22%3A%221%22%7D&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21USD%217.35%212.57%21%21%2153.87%2118.85%21%402103201917443131013477570e7489%2112000039880921536%21sea%21US%213884106183%21X&curPageLogUid=pce4R5ObKuyN&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch%7Cquery_from%3A.
