Loose Extractor assym? Need some advice!

So I have had nothing but issues with this printer from day 1. By this point I dont know why I even bother anymore with this company but here I am trying to get an idea if I should just toss this in the garbage and give up or if this is my actual problem.

So I have had nothing but issues with print quality and consistency in prints. I have tried adjusting literally EVERY setting but now I noticed this and wondering if its my problem. It seems like the entire extruder assym is loose. Should it have this much play in it up and down? I have it of course raised up and putting hardly any pressure on it to move it up and down, also everything is tight. Thank you all for all the help not just on this but on everything. This is a great community just with the products reflected the same.

Hello,

Did you change your printer settings, such as tightening or loosening screws, before trying to print?

In any case, you can send an email to info@sovol3d.com indicating your order number and attaching this video.

No never even touched the screws only the ones to remove the extruder from the plate attached to the rails.

I checked my printer and the extruder isn’t moving.

It’s probably your X-rail that’s causing the problem.

I suggest you contact Sovol if you’re still under warranty.

Yeah I figured it should be tight. Not sure how the x rail would cause that unless its severely warped and I put a straight edge on it and it is perfectly flat. I sent it to them figured I would reach out to the community first to see if others are loose or tight.

I can’t tell without removing the extruder, but the lower wheel should be adjustable.

I don’t want to take apart my extruder, it’s a hassle.

But maybe you can adjust the tightness of the lower wheel to stabilize the extruder.

Man I really wish I knew that lower wheel had that adjustment nut behind it. Just adjusted it and its nice and tight. THANK YOU!!!

I thought this fixed your printer…
today all is see is you posting in others users threads that they should send it back.

Is your ACE working or are you still having issues..??

I fix 1 thing and find 3 more things wrong. This did fix my printer but now im having layer adhesion issues, internal sparse infill not printing or adhearing to the print, or stringing of the sparse infill, or blobs of filament all over my print within the first 5 or so layers, nozzle keeps clogging the list seems to be endless and I cant seem to get anything figured out. I have done all of the calibrations on the unit along with the ones in Orca slicer. I get the calibration test to look good then print something with the new settings and its trash. I put on a new spool of filament and have not gotten 1 actual print and have used about 200g of this spool so far with nothing to show for it but my frustrations with this machine. Just cant seem to get any type of win.

It seems like there might be 2 issues here…
1: The plate is dirty & needs to be cleaned.
2: This is the big bad one, sounds like heat creep.

Have you ever dealt with heat creep before..??

So the plate gets washed and I use 99% iso to clean it after every print. It also doesnt have consistent adhesion issues as it varies from print to print on the same file. First the brim will not stick, then Ill retry and a small spot in the middle of the first slow layer will not stick, so on and so on.

Never heard of heat creep so not sure about that one.

Like right now im trying to figure out why all surfaces have this line going thru the top. This is just a flow test but every print has it.

I thought it might have been the nozzle moving over the print to close and dragging making those lines across the print but heres the print with travel on and the nozzle doesnt go over any of those spots on the top surface. Its almost like its not pushing filament out in the perfect way that it matches line by line looking like a cut across the surface.

Ok, let’s see if I can answer some things…

IPA: Yes IPA is good, I use it myself. But over the years I’ve learned it’s not 100% effective. I use it after maybe 2 or 3 prints, it depends if I switch filaments or if I feel I need to use it. But the plate still needs to be washed sometimes with dish soap & water, especially if your having a lot of issues.

Orca Calibrations: Myself, I’ve never done them, others swear by them. It’s just a rabbit hole I chose not to go down..your choice.

From your print, I’d say the Z-Offset is too low, but we’ll get back to that later.

What filament are you using…PLA only, PETG, both..??
Also, I’m not clear if this is your 1st printer or not..??

This is going to be a process, I’ll be asking a lot of questions going forward.

Ive had this printer for over 4 months def not my first print. Never had adhesion issues like this but seem like they are ok now just having issues with walls and lines. Using PETG .6mm nozzle. No worries bring on the questions. LOL

Also all pics are from today that ive posted. So its all after I tightened that lowwer wheel.

Did you ever use the ACE with the .4 nozzle or did you just change it right away before your 1st print..??
Are there any other changes you’ve made to the printer..??
Did you make the .6 Profile yourself or did you download it from somewhere..??
(Sovol only released a .4 Profile)

Do you have any cleaning filament..??

After you adjusted the extruder wheel/plate, did you re-run the calibrations again from the screen..??..Settings/System/Calibration

Yeah I use both the .4 and .6.
No other changes made. Using the .6mm preset in orca slicer with slight changes.
Didnt know cleaning filament was a thing.
After wheel adjustment I did all calibrations from the screen on the printer and in Orca slicer.
