I have a Sovol SV07 Plus, and I recently attempted to print a tall model but the print failed. One of the stepper motor connectors became unplugged before the gantry reached its maximum Z height. In addition, the cable for the printhead doesn’t have enough length to allow the carriage to travel all the way to the top of the frame. It come unplugged when it reaches the end of the cable.
I believe I have the wiring routed correctly, and I checked the mainboard—there isn’t any additional slack available. Can you confirm whether my cable routing is correct? If so, are there extension cables or longer harnesses available so the printer can fully utilize its maximum Z height?
A stock SV07 Plus has long enough cables, if they are routed correctly. You will find out if they are routed correctly when you do the initial z axis calibration.
I don’t own an SV07, but @cardoc does…he might have more insight then me.
My first thought was to switch the cables, but I don’t own this printer & I can’t tell from your pics if the left stepper cable is in the ribbon cable or not.
I measured the ribbon cable today and it was roughy 43 inches long. The cable for the stepper motor was really short. in the picture it is maxed out and it is several inches short of the stepper motor. I checked the routing and it is the only path it can really be in. it has not been a problem until i have a really tall print to do.
I’ve got a print running so I can’t verify at max Z. but the umbilical should be tie wrapped to the X rail behind the left Z screw. Mine has a label on the ribbon where the tie are supposed to go.
I added a foam backed tie wrap anchor near where the umbilical exits the frame. I also added the “hog ring” through the cover. It is soft aluminum wire so it can release if needed. I added it after my umbilical managed to loop itself over the belt cover and get pinched when homing the X axis.
Mine, however is not the plus model. I guess it is conceivable your shipped with the umbilical for a non-plus.
@sovol3d can you provide a technical drawing if the umbilical harness for the SV07+? It seems @t2baxte doesn’t have the markers for the tie wrap location.
