I purchased my Sovol SV07 about a 2 months ago, and was super happy until one day I noticed that the printer would not properly turn back on after a power loss. The screen would come on and then fail to boot, over and over again. I eventually left the printer completely unplugged for a few days and went back and tried to get it to turn on fully again, and same thing. It would start to boot, then get stuck and the screen would go black(the screen’s backlight was still on though). Luckily, I was able to get it booted up fully again after several tries and I thought all was good. Until a couple weeks later I had to do an emergency shutdown because the machine wouldn’t recognize and endstop. After that emergency shutdown the same issue started happening again, only this time worse. Now it started to have an electrical whine from the screen and will not boot up at all.
I went through Sovol Support and they told me to flash firmware, which I did, then when that didn’t work like I knew it wouldn’t they sent me a new EMMC module. Well that brings us to today. New EMMC module arrived, I installed it, and… Same thing the screen has the electrical whine and will not even start to boot properly.
I am at the point that I don’t know what to do. Sovol Support doesn’t seem to be very helpful and I need this printer back up and running. So, any ideas about what could be causing this issue and any solution? My guess is I need a new screen entirely, but I doubt Sovol Support will go for that at all because that is expensive, so they will probably try to send me something else first. I really just don’t know what to do anymore and need some sort of advise or to know if anyone else has had this issue before too.
Thank you so much for buying from Sovol, and I apologize for all the inconvenience. Can you give me your order number and e-mail account. I will contact with customer service personnel to help you solve your problem
I had the same issue exactly, svo7 bricked after power loss, screen only turns slightly on etc… I was able to flash the emmc a couple times, but every time it just bricked again sooner. THEN I had the same electrical whine, and nothing did anything anymore no matter what.
Well I had given up, but came back today randomly and just started taking the klipper screen apart again to see what I could see. I wanted to use a USB to my computer to try to connect it via serial and operate it that way (if it was only my screen), and all I had was my USB-C charger. And the board has two USB-C ports. The bottom one (that’s exposed naturally) didn’t work, but as soon as I plugged into the top one it stopped it’s whining! That’s when I realized, it’s a power issue. (which of course would cause that whining) So what I have now is a random usb charger plugging into the half-open klipper screen just going straight to a good 2.4A usb brick. Powered on, calibrated everything, put in new filament, and just finished a pretty decent first little print!!
TL;DR: Power issue. Put a USB-C phone charger into the very TOP port (hidden, take apart the screen) and power it separately.
