T300 z-tilt smashing into bed

I’m having an issue with my new T300. I just set it up and wanted to calibrate the z-tilt but instead of going all the way up, the printer was smashing the toolhead into the build plate. I have reflashed the firmware and i’m still getting the same issue. Any advice would be much appreciated.

It sounds like you need to to (or re-do) initial calibration. Follow the handbook / manual.

I am not able to do the initial calibration because the z axis tilt keeps failing. I have gone into klipper to change the direction and I have the x-axis raising to the top. However I keep getting the error “no trigger on z after full movement”

Pretty much, my printer isn’t homing so I can’t even calibrate the bed.

re-check all cables and connections, perhaps you forgot one.

Triple checked, not the problem.

Thanks a lot for your help BTW.

Contact Sovol support, ask for help?

Sent an email just now, I hope they can help me fix this issue. It’s probably related to the motherboard being bad.
Thanks a lot for your help!!!

Hi,
To open a ticket, send an email at info@sovol3d.com with your order number.

Have you by chance figured this problem out? I’m struggling big time and if the printer wasn’t so heavy I probably would have thrown it across the room by now.

I am going through the exact same thing you have just described. I built the machine to spec and then when I turned it on and attempted to calibrate the Z-axis tilt, the machine head goes to the Z1 side and slams against the side making an awful noise for 10 seconds (which I believe is normal?) and then it pushed the build plate all the way to the rear of Y-axis, then it proceeds to bring tool head back to center X-axis before it begins to drop down all the way to the build plate (but the build plate is all the way to the rear now and so when the tool head drops down the sensor will not be activated because the build plate is no longer under either it. So the head continues to drop and will bend or break either the tool head or the bend the build plate.. very frustrating to say the least. I end up flipping the power off on the printer before it hits the build plate because I don’t want anything to break.

I was having the same problem with a new T300 last week, and slid the magnetic bedplate forward so that the hotend proximity sensor would find something and stop going down. Then i was able to test moving along the axes and i noticed that y going to the back, so i assumed there was a faulty y-stop somewhere and took off the magnetic cover under the bed that hides the y belt to try and find it. No y-stop anywhere, but i was able to try and move along the y axis with it exposed, and i could immediately see how slack it was. Tried tightening the belt and it wasnt going well, so i took that rail apart and learned that the part that you screw against in the front had broken off inside, so i couldnt tighten the belt. Made a bracket to support that and 3d printed it on our other printer and then superglued the broken plastic piece into place and glued the bracket over it, and now i’m able to tighten belts just fine, got a nice benchy today, and i’m now off to the next problem (leveling the bed to fix a larger print)

Yeah, you’re right. I figured this out on my own as well. Why axis goes way too far back and when the head goes down to touch the bed, there is no bed there for the sensor to touch so it just smashes into the build plate. I have the whole thing taken apart now and I’m looking underneath to try to find the Y axis limiter/switch. I don’t see one anywhere. Does anybody know where this Y axis switches at. On Reddit somebody mentioned that their T 500 Y axis which was installed wrong and the only way that he could fix it was by using hot glue. So I’m actually looking for a physical Limiter switch, but I’m not seeing one anywhere.

There’s no limit switch. It went all the way back and wouldnt come forward for me because the belt was too loose to pull it forward. Have you tried tightening the belt?

Yeah sorry I didn’t read your whole comment before. Mine is doing exact same thing. It’s really pissing me off. My plate runs to the back and won’t ever come forwards. So did you end up fixing the issue and it working now? As I tilted the machine over I head something fall inside the metal housing somewhere. I’ll do what you did and remove the face plate cover and see what’s going on. You wouldn’t happen to have pictures of the bracket you made would you?

Negative I haven’t tried tighten belt yet.

Okay so took the faceplate off y-axis and yea it’s extreme loose

Here you go. I just uploaded some pics and the STL

Hey I just want to thank you for everything. I did as you suggested and it took me a few hours but I got the belt tightened down and after reassembling everything….. y-axis is now returning to Zero point when doing calibrations, unlike before. So thank you so much bro. I appreciate it a ton. I was nearly about given up on the machine but looks like it will finally get to see its very first print in the coming days…. Had to order a new extruder because mine broke in the process of fixing the Y-axis. lol. SMH. But that’s just $40 and practically is as plug and play of a replacement part as you could ever expect. So I’m not worried about it. Anyways thanks again!!

You’re welcome. Glad i was able to help
