SV08 printing issues

The printer was working great and then suddenly there began to appear large gaps in each layer of filament. The filament is Sunlu PLA which had just come from the filament heater/dryer. I had just been getting clean prints from the same spool. I cleaned the hot-end even though it didn’t appear to be blocked. I then did the z-offset calibration test (attached photo). I tried a different spool of filament but had the same result.

Can anyone point me to what might be the cause/solution?

Thanks!

I had something similar happen. What I did wasI changed the z height to add .2 mm above the standard (I think this is called the z-offset.) . Also, I changed the first layer to be .3 mm.

Thanks for the reply!
I’ll give this a shot and see if it helps.

I printed a 1-layer test and, as it was printing, I adjusted the z-offset up (and down) by .2mm but the printing was just as patchy as before. It also didn’t seem to make any difference whether I moved in the positive or negative direction.
I’m really curious about this as the printing literally changed overnight from great to terrible.
I appreciate the suggestion, though!

While cool check your nozzle is still tight, heat up and using, say long noise pliers, check again.

Make sure the toolhead is secure.

Sometimes it can take two Calibration Z offset runs to get right.

Try cleaning out the nozzle.

Check the the pin the holds the idler gear wheel on the feeding lever arm has not started to come loose.

took me 5 times to get my first layer to sit correct

Well, I think that the issue was the pin holding the idler gear.
Once I figured out that I would need to unmount that little pair of circuit boards in the front (and promptly lose the 2 little spacers between the circuit boards) then I could see that the pin was sticking way out. I was able to snap it back into place using needle nose pliers. I found this little attachment designed by Valerie Moore (SV08 Extruder fix by Valerie Moore | Download free STL model | Printables.com) and was able to print and install it successfully. I need to test it on a larger print but, given how many people have had issues with this pin, I am thinking it must have been my problem as well.
I appreciate everyone’s suggestions!
