Thanks for the reply. Maybe some Noctua quiet fans and the right Trinamic drivers would quiet things down? Are the drivers socketed?
Iām assuming Sovol deliberately chose the noisier stepper drivers for higher inrush current or some similar technical reason to increase performance and not just to save a bit of money. The Zero is a little sports car and the extra noise equates to extra power.
I love the precision but I donāt have that need for speed, so quieter and half as fast would have been better for me, but the Zero is built for speed.
I havenāt looked to see if there are Noctua fans that could be swapped as I did on the motherboard on the SV08.
Iāve been playing with the Zero most of today. Iām now ready to stop printing Benchy boats and perfect first layer sheets, unload the PLA and start printing parts for my business. From what Iāve seen so far, I think the print quality will be even better than the SV08, and I know the first layer will be more repeatable and reliable. Iām very enthused about printing a part at a time on the Zero and using some custom G code to eject the parts for continuous printing. Suddenly, a small printer is looking very good.
I really should print some ABS on this little high temperature enclosed printer.
I ordered mine 3/28, it shipped 4/28 from NJ, and arrived the next day. I think it may have been sitting in customs while the white house was evaluating tariffs on China. Finally under some pressure, perhaps from Apple, taxes on some Chinese electronics were rolled back. (thatās my guess anyway). BTW, excellent packing!
Just received an update email from Sovol. Now they anticipate the ship date to be at the end of this month! 2 months to get a printer
Sorry to hear that, robotwizard. I thought the one month wait was interminable. Hopefully they can do better than the end of May.
On the plus side, you arenāt waiting five months for an Elegoo Centauri. :-o
After printing some speed boat Benchies, Iām finally getting around to moving my products to the Zero. The first test part is printing now. Iām tweaking the start and end G code in OrcaSlicer to print a part and then eject it out the open front door, and repeat until the spool is empty. Perpetual production with no labor between spool changes every couple of days. Woot!
So I purchased the zero on sovol3d.com, and it hadnāt shipped so I reached out. I figured since the April 10th date had passed, they must be in stock (since the website didnāt lead me to believe differently). When it didnāt ship, I reached out to Sovol and was told it was expected to ship the end of May.
A few days later while shopping on eBay for SV08 parts, I came across a listing for a Zero, new in stock with free 2-4 day shipping for MSRP. From whom, you might ask? Sovol-3D-Printer.
Sovol has earmarked some of their stock specifically for eBay sales, and is selling these units separately from orders placed on their website directly. There are 8 in stock according to eBay.
I purchased one Friday and it arrived today, I cancelled the order on Sovolās website and had a full refund in 24 hours.
Hope that helps!
On the live stream tonight, they basically said they will start re-shipping on June 1st.
They are at the loading docks & being distributed to the warehousesā¦which will take a few weeks.
Iām sure this is a case of different people doing different things at Sovol, but they need to realize how this looks to customers. Iād be mad if I bought a Zero from the Sovol website for $429 + $10 shipping, and a month later I still didnāt have it, but people were buying the same printer on eBay for $429 and free shipping and getting it in two days.
Sovol also needs to keep track of the orders they receive and the printers they ship, and when a batch is pre-purchased, revise their websiteās shipping date to accurately reflect when the next batch of printers will be shipping. Itās ridiculous that the Zero web page is still showing a shipping date for one month ago, April 10th, and people have been waiting longer than that for a printer they bought that still hasnāt shipped.
Another possibly interesting question is when is Sovol going to be out of stock for v1.0 machines and the v1.3 machines will start shipping? The manual for v1.3 is already public and shows the filament mount having been moved to the side wall but itās unclear if there are also some other changes in addition to that.
My manual showed the filament sensor on the side. I think they moved it to the back after printing them.
The filament sensor is side mounted in both V1.0 and V1.3 manuals. V1.0 has it near the back edge while V1.3 has it near the front edge. However, V1.3 manual shows also the filament mount on the side, not just the sensor.
