If you don’t use the Bowden tube and instead feed filament directly into the extruder, there is no PTFE tube to support the extruder cable and it’ll droop down, get caught between the gantry and left rear pulley block, and crash the printer when it tries to home the Y axis, causing an error and grinding the timing belt as the timing pulley slips. This clip on cable support fixes that problem.
Heh, great timing Heh just happened to me yesterday for the first time
It’s so green! ![]()
I saw yesterday where someone used a cable tie in the same location, but I’m always looking for stuff to CAD and 3D print. My Zero is currently printing a compact keeper for my set of seven hex bit shank masonry bits to save space in my small Milwaukee M12 hammer drill tool bag. When that’s finished, I’ll print a slip on cover for the set of six spade bits to prevent the sharp points from poking stuff rattling around in the bag. I’m spending this winter optimizing my life instead of living my life. :-/
LOL it is bright, the PETG Lime Green is for old eyes and dark tool bags holding various connectors. Makes it easier to see things while I’m fishing around the bottom of the bag.
Wanted to fix the cable before printing the next part ![]()
