Sovol SV08 crashes into bed and "dances"

I’ve been very happy with my Sovol SV08 that I got in Mid July, 2024. I can’t say enough good things about it’s print quality, speed and general wonderfulness!

But it just (in the last hour) has developed a real problem. When I started a new print, the head moved to the middle of the bed, crashed into it, and then the corner drives just went up and down while keeping the nozzle pinned to the bed. I quickly shut it off! Then I restarted, and selected auto home from the menu. The nozzle raised up, went back, then forward again to the middle of the bed, and crashed into it again! I quickly stopped it and started to write this note. HELP!

The only clue I have is that the preceding print had adhesion problems and I had to abort it.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you checked all wiring and did you cleaned the head ? Probably the probe who defect (because of wiring?). You can write to the support with a video, that may help them to give you the right guidline to identify the issue (then please share here the answer, that may help other  ).

Did you retry a “calibrate Z-offset” ? It looks like your Z-height setting is incorrect or the probe is damaged like mistral also said.

Thanks for the response! Much appreciated.
I’ve dug into this more and found that my nozzle was covered in plastic! I have taken the nozzle off and am trying to figure out what to do next. I plan to send a picture of it to Sovol and ask for suggestions.

While waiting for a reply from Sovol (National Day holiday time), I cleaned the plastic off the actual nozzle, cleaned plastic out of the hole just below the drive gear in the extruder, put it all back together, recalibrated, and I’m printig again. Seems to be OK!
