Sovol grinding on bed when I try to level it, so I have to turn it off. Just installed orange spacers instead of coils

Sovol starts grinding on the bed when I try to level it and I have to turn it off. It wants to go lower. I just installed the orange spacers in place of the coils, so I guess now it wants to go down more, but I dont know what to do? Can someone help?

I don’t own an SV04…but since you replaced the springs with spacers, your going to have to go through the entire process to level the bed & adjust the Z-offset.

Hi Lion. Thanks for responding. That is what Im trying to do, but when I turn it on and I hit leveling, the machine goes to home and tries to go deeper and just starts grinding and I have to turn it off, so I really cant relevel it or anything. Any ideas?

The spacers may be too short, the plate is then too low and in this case, the Z axis comes up against the structure.

Hi Amazinggiantflowers,
it seems that the Z-offset setting doesn’t match the current distance between the touch sensor and the nozzle tip. Supposing your SV04 runs the stock firmware you may want to increase the Z-offset in the leveling screen. Don’t forget to save afterwards.

In case that your SV04 starts homing before you could change the Z-offset: Keep a tool at hand (e.g. a ruler) in order to relase the trigger of the CR touch sensor manually before it reaches the hot-bed & crashes the nozzle into it. Add 1 or 2mm to the Z-offset, save, restart & try leveling again as described in Sovol’s SV04 Operation instruction manual.

Good luck!
