Replacing a dead linear rail on the X-axis

The X-axis linear rail on my machine started to give a lot of backlash. Which linear rail do I need to buy to replace it? I measured the length of the original rail, it is 406 mm, but such rails are not on sale. Will a 400mm be suitable?

The X rail that moves from the back to the front is a non standard 2020 rail that is actually 426 mm long. It has one side closed in and the end casting has a thicker section that bears on that closed side. So if you want to use a standard 2020 rail you will need to shim under the end castings by 2mm each end. The very back rail is 345 mm long and the 2 side rails are 469 mm long. You can buy this one side closed rail here. https://us.misumi-ec.com/vona2/mech/M1500000000/M1501000000/M1501010000/?curSearch={"field"%3A"%40search%2CseriesList.templateType"%2C"categoryCode"%3A"M1501010000"%2C"sort"%3A1%2C"allSpecFlag"%3A0%2C"page"%3A1%2C"brandModeFlag"%3A1%2C"pageSize"%3A"45"%2C"unitType"%3A"1"%2C"00000042730"%3A"mig00000001495349"%2C"00000042720"%3A"b"}&listDisplay=mc-list

Sorry if I put it wrong, I’m using a translator. But my problem is not with the OpenBuilds profile, but with the MGN12 linear rail.

You want to replace the steel slide rail not the aluminum extrusion?

The big issue is lining up the mounting holes with the tapped holes in the extrusion.

I pulled the slide rail out of the CAD model from Sovol’s github

WARNING the CAD is not 100% accurate

Looks like a generic 400mm rail to me. Also the carriage (slider) is available separately. The wear on your actual rail is likely trivial compared to the carriage.
