Just Installed Sovol Klipper Screen - How Do I Update It?

I tried using a Raspberry Pi for Klipper and had nothing but trouble so I decided to give the official Sovol Klipper screen a try.

Physical install was a breeze and so far it’s working very well. I can access it through a browser and upload my gcode files without any issues.

I noticed on the Sovol page for the Klipper Screen there was a firmware released 3 November 2024 so I used that to flash my printer but I noticed there is also a film in the firmware folder called “Arbian.deb” but there’s no instructions with it.

I went into the Klipper screen and clicked on update and all I get is a popup in Chinese that I have no idea what it says and nothing changes. I can’t check for updates through the browser UI either.

How do I make sure my Klipper screen is up today? How do I know my printer is up to date with the latest Klipper firmware?

I still have no idea if I’m up to date or what but I put the “Arbian.deb” file on a usb key and plugged it into the Sovol Klipper screen while it was up and it recognized it and ran some sort of firmware update and then restarted.

I have no idea if it actually updated anything or what it did since there are no release notes and it seems I can’t even find a latest version number.

When you do this you MUST also download the Firmware.bin file and update the printer by shutting down, inserting the mini SD card with only the firmware on it and starting up the printer. Again… I’ve got no idea if it worked or not or what version anything is supposed to be but it appears to have worked.

Hi,
Generally, after flashing the firmware, if everything went well, the suffix of the firmware name changes.

the suffix on the SD card?

Yes.
The name of the firmware file on the SD card changes.
