Just don`t buy this shit, seriously

Well.. 6 month of battle for justice with Sovol company with no results. want to duel with head of R&D.

Let`s go:

  1. Right out of the box - I meet bent frame - supports tells me "its not important, you can use it”. Okay, squareness, stiffness, geometry - rice lovers dont know about them.
  2. Ok, We built it. Power on. NOISE. LOUD AS F*CK! What we can do? Replace the fans to 8010, for impossible 10usd? Yes. What SOVOL “engineers” at “support” tells us? “We use the best fans and they are quiet”. Okay. Have no idea why every company, at least, try to make their devices quieter, but SOVOL ENGINEERING knows the best for customers - loud and noisy shit.
  3. DIsplay. This piece of shit is restricted in firmware, so you don`t have access to vital settings like you have FULL control at any other printers - Ender3pro (yes yes, 8year old friend) gives you full control of the device through the TFT display) Sovol did it on purpose - so you can buy “normal” display for just 80 usd. Just because you want, sounds weird - gain control to settings behind the bed and nozzle temp.
  4. XY steppers. They are crap. Clanky, noisy, low quality itself, noname, cheap piece of shit. Even on Ender3pro (again, 8 years old), the steppers are good. Or on any other 3d printer, literally. But SOVOL decides to give you some shit. The causing a lot of vibrations, they have problems when moving not linear. Also, they constantly overheating. And this funny “radiators” on the bottom… LMAO - steppers don`t generates heat from the bottom, morons. The radiators could be installed at the bottom on the Closed-loop steppers because of PCB heat dissipation. How the hell those dumb idiots running such big company, idk.
  5. Another issues - belts. Too small for XY. But someone understand something, because on Z there is wide enough belts)
  6. Belt tensioners. They are useless. Everyone tells about it and suggest ro prit tensioners Voron`s style - they are effective, easier to use, and they WORKS.
  7. Printhead. Ooh it makes my angry as f*ck. First, simple but annoying - magnets on shroud not glued. So you take off the shroud aand…yes, all magnets remainn os shroud itself or on the printhead base. Kinda idiotic. Nozzle - stock it shit. But good from creality, or, better be, one of the CHT. And there is no spare silicone socks, remember. But they put some nobodu-wants-it noname whit filament, 250gramm. For WHAT?! No idea. Better be spare silicone socks.
  8. Printhead, more issues: base itself is pretty piece of crap. There must be stock voron-style plate with normal and NOT PLASTIC belt clips.Seriosly, plastic belt clips? AGAIN, even on ender3pro they are metal.
  9. Printhead, more and more issues. Glue on connectors, Everywhere. Noname CAN pcb, so you can`t replace it with something reliable. ANd you just tear connectors when try do disconnect them because some moron put a tons of glue on them.
  10. Printhead, just one more thing. WHo the hell need Sovol printhead? It`s not good at all, the maximum volumetric you can achieve is 22. This is about 120mm printspeed with not so good quality
  11. EDDY`s sensor. Instead of do it properly, those idiots put EDDY for “bed leveling”. But, as many times people talk about it on reddit and here - this piece of crap dont work normally. Because of thermal fluctuations, because its cheap. I have no fuckin ideas why there was a problem to copy any WORKING solution like cartographer, traditional endstops, probing like on CNC with metal point at zero, etc, but this printer have a BIG problem with bed levelling, offset, first layer as consequence.
  12. Let`s go to the inderneath. Noname PSU (what was the problem to instal MEANWELL, at least?), very careless cable management, some random motherboard, cheap connectors and AGAIN TONS OF GLUE! WHO THE FUCK WAS THE MORON WHO DID IT?! You just can`t disconnect anything without tearing the connectors because of glue.
  13. Let`s go deeper - firmware. Oh yes. Some retarded guy wrote this fork of Klipper, nobody have another explanation. Stock Steppers settings all wrong - wrong current, wrong e-steps. AUX feeder also setup totally wrong. Bed leveling sequence also wrong. A lot of tweaks nedded. Thanks to community but i have no fuckin idea why the fuck we must do it?!
  14. Less important but we pay for it - camera. Camera is total piece of shit. 10FPS maximum, resolution something liek 576p, not even 720, and its contantly loosing connection to the server, so in general you can`t control the prinitng process. And SUPPORT, as always, tells us "camera if good, friend! My no speak english, friend".
  15. Whole hotend setup is shit. What was the problem to use Vorons i dont know. You cant just replace it, you cant print normally with 0.8 nozzle, etc., garbage.

ANd the most annoying thing - ther is no support. Morons from “support team” dont know anything about the machines, they dont speak english, dont understand the problems. The only answer “dont worry friend, well help you friend”, That`s all the support you will get.

Got luck, Dont buy it. Im regretting every day, because for 6 month i don`t get finished well even one print, except the test cube. Any large prints bad. First layers issues, clogs issues, warping, uneven bed, big problems whe printint non-linear objects, etc, etc. Shit.

I think your best option would be to just put this one down to experience, & replace the printer with a brand you prefer.

You totally right. But i must warn others, who run business, so they woun`t loose money, time, clients, reputation because of another manusafturer who hiring marketing shitheads instead of engineers. So, Im done, people warned. I have a 12 years experience of running additive manufacturing, so im not “underqualified”, just printers are shit and there is no quality control on their factory or any R&D.

Dear adam,

Thank you first for taking the time to compile and submit such comprehensive feedback.

We have thoroughly reviewed your post on the forum, and the issues you highlighted have been flagged for internal assessment. In particular, your feedback regarding toolhead maintenance convenience, structural cooling design, firmware access restrictions, and sensor stability during continuous, large-scale printing aligns closely with the optimization areas we are currently addressing.

We completely understand that you should have had a much more stable and seamless user experience, rather than spending substantial time and energy on extended troubleshooting, adjustments, and back-and-forth communication. For this frustration, we sincerely apologize.

Regarding your experience with this machine, we would like to offer the following special resolution:

Full Refund & Machine Retention
We will arrange a full refund for your SV08 MAX. You do not need to bear the logistics and shipping costs of returning the device; you may keep it directly.

Internal Assessment & Continuous Improvement
Your feedback has been forwarded to our R&D and product teams as a priority case for internal review. We are currently re-evaluating several improvement directions, including connector assembly processes, our firmware openness strategy, and sensor stability enhancement.

If you are willing to accept this solution, please reply to this email with your Order ID and the payment information used for the purchase (such as your PayPal account). For official store orders, we will arrange the refund back to your original payment method as soon as the details are confirmed.

Thank you again for pointing out these issues so thoroughly and directly. For us, this kind of authentic and in-depth user feedback holds significant value for our future product iterations.

Best regards,

Sovol R&D & Community Management Team

Thanks for assistance. Also check youtube for “sovol sv08max issues”, reddit, klipper forums, etc - there is tons of troubles that you were able to prevent and still could it future iterations. I`ll be very happy to write post in the “omfg this is the best machine ever!” kind of mood, but definitely not now. Reliability is not only about “more money - better product”, it is, at first, about very, veery good solutions - like Bambulab just compiled all the users solutions and made their X1 - it was literally a compilation of all the solutions that user`s found for years of 3d ptinting issues. Like VORON itself - they just iterate different solutions and choose best of them so we can buy complete pack of parts and just assemble it. I hope SOVOL will become like Ultimaker with affordable price, not like Creality who just copy everything they can found over the internet with no understanding, what they are doing. WOrld needs mid-size printers, don`t loose this nische. And hear you customers, ask them, hear again, test your solutions, like prusa, like ultimaker, like voron, stratasys, and others. Look at the best.
