I have a new SV08 max I have had some printing issues vibrations after turns on the inside edges, slowed the speed to 1500 and jerk to .4 this combined with calibrating steps and flow have minimized the issue, but still nowhere near good enough.
What I noticed last night is with the print head fans running on high, there is a noticeable vibration. I suspect this may be transferring into the print.
Anyone else have fan vibration issues? This machine might have 10 hours use, mostly doing calibrations.
Without seeing your test prints I’m kind of shooting in the dark:
Your statement that artifacts are only seen “after turns” I would say the fan is not the source. Fan vibrations would effect all surfaces.
Have you re-tensioned your belts? Have you run input shaper with the printer located in it’s usual position. Occasionally the bench/table will show a resonance that can ne resolved by bracing the bench/table or input shaper settings.
I have had other issues, with the strength of prints, but it seems this printer is under extruding on default setting. Also seems like this printer likes the hot end temperatures higher than my other printers. This is definitely not a plug and play unit, then again, my plug and play units are smaller and fit though doors.
Not subtle is it? I’m at a loss as to the cause. Your first picture shown some pressure advance issues at the corner and the wall before the salmon skin starts.
I’d factory reset every thing. Run resonance test and adjust input shaper settings. Then use the built in tools in Orca to calibrate flow rate and pressure advance. Be precise with pressure advance, course tune using the “pattern” then fine tune using the “tower”.
The PA tower should also show your salmon skin issue if present.
What infill was used for the print you photographed?
I will check that, but I am reasonable sure it is not checked. I have slowed the outer walls down considerably and it’s a snore fest watching the outer wall print.
I reset the machine, checked to make sure the do not slow down for outer walls was not checked. I also calibrated the steps to value 6.62 turns for 100mm filament. Checked belt tension. Looks to like it is under extruding compared to my K2 plus.
looking at the infill, super thin and stringy.
20mm xy calibration cube looks better today. Today’s on the left yesterday the right.
This seems to be a case of under-extrusion. Since the ESteps are correct, I bumped the multiplier up to 1.1 and the issue is clearing up. It’s not perfect, but a world better.
The upper is with the multiplier at .98 the lower is 1.1
I have not sent an email to sovol, but I am getting better prints. A good look at the temp tower revealed this print head runs much cooler than my other printers. I have to run PLA at 225-230 degrees which seems high for pla, not unreasonable, but high, and 265+ for Rapid petg.
I like this printer for its print volume and speed, but I would never recommend it to anyone. This was too difficult to get acceptable prints.
Out of the Box all of my Creality machines printed really nice. The 08 Max out of the box the prints were horrible. Took me a while to figure out need to crank up the heat.
I could have identified this earlier by putting my temp tower under a magnifying glass and looking at the under hangs. The reset of the temp tower looked good.
