Christian Vicks OrcaSlicer Presets for SOVOL SV07

Hi,

I posted this in another [resolved] thread and had no replies so I wondered if it had been seen.

I posted the following message to gerGO on YouTube:

I’m trying to follow this exactly (only with Orca v2.3.0 stable)… it’s fine until I get to import the filaments when it tells me “There are 0 configs imported. (only non-system and compatible configs) Hint: Make sure you have added the corresponding printer before importing the configs.” I only imported “CV 1.55 SV07 Plus.json” because I only have an SV07 Plus. Any advice appreciated.

GerGO replied:

All CV presets are based on the regular SV07, not the Plus. So first make sure to add that printer. Then CV’s SV07+ preset will redefine the print are and other settings that differ between the two printers.

I replied to him (including the edit):

Thanks for the reply. Like I say above, I was trying to follow your video exactly and yes, I added the regular SV07 only.

EDIT: Yes, I’ve just uninstalled and reinstalled with SV07 printer (not Plus) then went through the same process… it still imports 0 filament configs. The only differences outside of OrcaSlicer version I noted were that it insisted on my accepting a “default filament” and I used “CV 1.55 SV07 Plus.json”

In short I haven’t got a clue what I’m doing wrong so if anyone can advise I’d greatly appreciate it.

James

I have no idea if this is true but I tried exporting my versions of CV’s filament profiles and it wouldn’t let me. This leads me to believe that Orca has hamstrung the import/export function (perhaps to placate Bambu).

Load the .jason files in notepad and recreate the profiles. There are only 5.

Alternately get an older version of Orca, import then upgrade.

Maybe it’s time to go back to SuperSlic3r.

Hello,

It’s been a while since I’ve used SuperSlic3r, but from what I remember, there aren’t many differences between it and OrcaSlicer.

Am I wrong?

Orca is based on SuperSlic3e. All the functions are the same but the UI isn’t as polished.

I don’t recall if the profiles are saved in a compatible format.

AFAIK, Superslic3r, Slic3r and OrcaSlicer are quite similar.

Sorry if I sound thick (British slang, “stupid”) but what does “recreate the profiles” mean? Just save them again?

I’ll admit, I had wondered about trying the version used in the video so that seems a logical way to go … I’ve downloaded v1.9.0 and installing it now.

Thanks

I guess it means “read the content of the json file and use the values in there to create a new profile from scratch”.

Open the .jason file in notepad or similar. They are easy to decode.

Open Orca and select a generic filament profile of a similar type. Edit the values to match the .jason file then save with the new name.

Thanks for those replies but I followed the advice of @cardoc and installed an earlier version, v1.9.0 used in the video, with the intention of upgrading. It worked as that earlier version and I printed one of my designs (a modified version of someone else’s idea), some wheelie bin clips with no issue at all.

Now, to get to the latest stable version, do I just install it? Sounds like a dumb question but I tried and it asked if I wanted to uninstall the old version so I’m a little reluctant in case it uninstalls my CV additions.

James

If I recall correctly if you tell it yes uninstall it then asks if you want to save configurations.

I’m on 2.3.0 and still have the CV filaments but I’m not positive the exact update process I used

It didn’t ask but it appears to have retained the settings so thanks
