SV06 Plus Ace PSU Fan Upgrade?

Hi all,
The fan on the Plus Ace is too loud to have in my living space while I am working and I would like to swap it for a Noctua. I found several mods/cases for the SV06 Plus, but has anyone found an alternative for the Plus Ace? I am happy to look into it myself once I have some time, but being new to 3D printing and tinkering with electronics in general, I’d be pleased to have part numbers and an STL.

I did find some info for the MSU fan:

Thanks in advance!

Which fan is bothering you, the mother board or the power supply?

I’ve attached a 3mf file for the MB cover (converted from step model at Sovol’s Github). The PS is a metal box modeled as a brick but you could open it up and change the fan fairly easily.

The power supply fan on mine is awful. Where can I find out more about what to change it to and how to do it?

You need to remove metal box from plastic holder. unscrew the cover and flip it over and get the electrical specs off the old fan.

Pic is a GENERIC power supply with the cover off. I marked the fan plug but it could be in a different spot on yours.

Now you have to decide weather to stay with a 40mm fan or cut a hole in the cover and go bigger. 90% chance fan is 24V which eliminates most computer fans from consideration unless you want to deal with a dc/dc converter.
Lastly note the spots where the transistors are clamped to the case. Glue on heat sinks applied to the outside would help a quieter fan keep things cool.

OR search the forums for “mean well” and updrade the whole power supply to a (semi)name brand unit with a thermally controlled fan.

I don’t have a mod, but want to add that the power supply fan on the Plus is much louder than the regular ACE.
I brought it up in one of Sovol’s live streams a few weeks back and they said “they’ll give feedback to the supplier” but who knows if that’ll do anything.
All of the fans on the ACE and Plus are pretty loud though in comparison to an A1.

Part of the noise is…
That because of the ACE’s camera the PSU was moved from the right to the left…
this puts the fan on the bed side & not facing out…JMO

Sovol buys power supplies from a low cost manufacturer with so-so quality control.

PS manufacturer buys fans from a VERY low cost vendor with little to no quality control.

1 in 50 end up sounding like blender full of BB’s.

Sorry for the delayed reply. The motherboard fan is super loud and I plan on replacing it, but I am also looking for a PSU alternative. I realize the sv06s often get recommended Meanwell – do the Plus Ace have a similar alternative?

I really like the Plus Ace but the fan sounds like a loud bathroom fan and it’s on 100% of the time. I’ve run the printer maybe 40 hours so far and the MB fan is beginning to be louder than the PSU…

In the case of 3d printers I have seen the power supply is just a “black box” the Motherboard doesn’t even know it exists. ANY device that will supply dc power (usually 24V) to the screw terminals on the board will work.

There are “add on” relay boards to switch off the AC input but as far as I know no Sovol printer has one.

You could put the power supply in the next room and run wires* to the board or use a giant bench power supply.
