SV06 - grinding on the Y axis when homing

Hi everyone!

New SV06 owner here and I really like this printer. I paid $109 USD for it and I’m getting great prints from it.

However, I just tore the printer down to relube the bearings to try to reduce the noise levels a bit and now when I home the printer, it moves the bed back on the Y axis and it just sits there grinding. I’ve tightened the belt as much as I’m willing to go, but that didn’t help.

Any suggestions as to how to resolve this problem?

Thanks!

You literally tore it down…??
Check the bed screws under the plate, if you put a longer screw there it will hit the frame.

Turn the printer off & move the bed back & forth, if something hits…you found your problem.
If not, tear the bed apart & re-check your work.

Hi @Lion Thanks for the reply!

I literally took the whole printer apart to relube the bearings. With the printer off, the bed moves back and forth with no obstructions. All of the screws were returned to their original positions. I used a piece of cardboard with holes to keep the screws organized.

The bed moves all the way back when homing, but I will take it apart again once my current print job is finished.

I might switch over to klipper and add a endstop switch if I can’t figure this out.

So what was happing is that the Y axis belt was to loose. This was causing the sensorless homing to fail, resulting in the stepper motor trying to home, but being unable to because not enough tension on the belt. I tightened the belt and now it’s working perfectly.
