SV04 Setup - Adjust X Axis

I am assembling an SV04 for the first time and noticed something while adjusting the X axis…

After disabling the stepper motors and manually moving the Z-screw to place the spacer pieces to level the X axis, when I let go of the left Z-screw, it turns/falls about 1/4 turn.

Is this normal?

Since this does not happen with the right Z-screw, will this cause issues keeping a consistent bed level?

Hi Bill,
it should behave equally on both Z-axes in case your SV04 has been adjusted horizontally before. You may want to check the gantry geometry & the Z-axis bearing rollers of your SV04 as described here.

SV04 problem at specific height

Some ideas: Check the gantry geometry (red lines should have equal distance). Check that all bearing rollers on Z-axis can travel with equal pressure - if not use the excentric rollers to adjust. Ensure that the travel paths of bearing rollers are free of obstructions & dirt (blue areas). Check the geometry of the Z-axis threads (green): Ensure that the rods are not twisted by holding a ruler or any straight surface along whilst turning the Z-axis by Z-movement. [CheckAreas2]

Thanks for the suggestion…I will double check the gantry geometry and see what I find.
