SV04 not extruding out of either side

I while ago the left extruder stopped pushing filament through. I’ve just been using the right side since that’s been working up until now. the gears all move and it heats up but the filament only goes part of the way through and doesn’t get extruded or moved by the gears at all. I’m already down one printer cause of heat issues and I need at least one to work.

Hello EvilPrinting & welcome to the forum.
Did you already try this?

Good luck!
Björn

PS:
The adjustment screws on each extruder are supposed to adjust filament pressure.

I’ve tried turning the adjustment screws in a lot of ways and it doesn’t change anything. the left one has a bit of filament in the gears but i don’t see any in the right

I have a SV01Pro which has the same extruder as your left one.

Early on I has SEVERAL horrific clogs in the body of the extruder caused by heat creep.

After dismounting the extruder and removing the heatbreak, working from the bottom, I used a 5/64" (1.94mm) drill bit in a pin vice to drill the plastic out of the aluminum.

The third time I bought some 4mm OD x 2mm ID stainless tubing, completely disassembled the extruder, drilled the filament path to 4mm and lined it with the tubing. That was 18 months ago and not a serious clog since. I don’t think the stainless runs any cooler but the filament doesn’t stick “as hard” allowing a cold pull to clear the passage.

That extruder design is hard to service and does tend to run hot. If you have plans to keep the SV04 running long term you may wish to explore alternate extruders.

I’ll try taking one of them apart to see if that’ll help first. Ill look into other extruders too

are there any good tutorials for how to take it apart. I don’t want to accidentally break it to take it apart more than I need to but I cant find any good tutorials so far

Good tutorials? Not that I know of

At 10:47 he takes the extruder apart but skips steps and goes really fast

I mean thats better than nothing. Ill try to take it apart thanks
