Suddenly Auto Z-Align doesn’t work any more. When selected Z move up thenXY axis home and Z axis start going to the top where it runs into the gantry but the drives don’t stop. It stays there and if you wait longer then I like Z axis will move down the go back up and sit against the gantry will the drives on until I kill the power.
Does anyone know how the homing of Z works? is it torque on the drives that triggers the Z axis to back off then return at slower speed to set the home position?
I have sent message and video to Sovol but no answer.
Thanks
Jim
Hi,
Normally, when we do a z-align, for the SV06+, the axis goes to the top until it hits the gantry and then goes down to the bed.
So the beginning of your z-align is normal.
If, on the plate, it continues to dig, check your probe and make sure it is correctly positioned.
If the Z goes up & grinds & goes back down…this is what it should do…but if your goes back up…it be that your Alignment is further out then a 1 time check.
I’m curious what would happen if you waited for the 2nd time & not kill the power.
You can always try a manual Alignment buy lowering the Z Axis onto a pair of cans until you think it’s correct.
Then try the Auto Z Align again.
Mich111 problem with this is ‘it goes up’ hits gantry ‘comes down 20 mm’ ‘goes back up against the gantry’ and stays there with the drives growling. The probe never gets near the bed plate.
Lion The length of time it spend grinding is much longer then ever before. And the second time even longer. I cant take the grinding that long with out shutting it down.
7 seconds first contact 15 seconds before shutdown.
Hi @sovol3d ,
Could you check if this user has opened a ticket ?

Sovol got back with me and advised re-seating most to the electric connections and trying a different probe.
One of those was the fix.
Now Zaxis goes down probes the bed then to the top and taps the gantry and then returns to the bed.
Glad to have it running again!
