SD and Display issues

I’m a newbie to 3D printing, actually an injection molder by trade, purchased a returned Sovol online and in need of some direction.

Will this printer fire up without the SD card?
Do I need to configure a new SD card with the Sovol firmware and install? If so what size do I need?
Would the display light up even blue without the SD card installed?

When powered on power supply and motherboard are active and print head does light up.
Looks like board with the ribbon cables from display has power there is a small blue indicator light

Please help!

SD card is used to save your printing file or something.
But if you don’t have a SD card, connecting a computer to printer by USB is also a way. tips: SD card should use less than 16g memory
When you flash the firmware, you need to connect to computer first. Please refer to the video following.
