Problem with stuck filament

So I was printing and left the printer alone for a long print and came back to the image I attached. I tried heat and pulling it off, but for some reason the extruder now shows an error. What do I do?

Ahhh the dreaded “ball of death”

You probably have a broken thermistor wire inside.

Heat gun, scraper, cussing and swearing…

You WILL get a couple minor burns. Welcome to the club.

The first time I had this, I had to use a drill to get out of the hotend.
The result was that I had to change it

So uhh, I basically broke it and got a new extruder head, but it is missing a few parts. What do I have to get?

What parts are salvageable?

In addition to the core unit shown the assembly includes:

  1. Interface board for the ribbon cable
  2. mount plate
  3. Extruder fan and duct (on the side)
  4. Part cooling fan and duct (lower on the front)
  5. Bed probe and mounting bracket
  6. Hot end assembly

The hot end is made up of:

  1. Heat break
  2. Heat block
  3. Heater cartridge
  4. Thermistor
  5. Sock
  6. Nozzle

If I’m not mistaken the hot end is generic MK8 and can come from quicker and cheeper sources than Sovol.
