New here with some questions

My SVO8 should be arriving here in Wednesday. Is there anything out of the box I need to look for . I have read about replacing the fan because of noise . I also read about people going to mainline klipper . Is there really that much difference between stock and mainline . I have read people having issues with the factory motherboard , it’s just you know how people on the net can be sometimes . Any advise would be appreciated.

Welcome to the fourm.

Mainline klipper has slightly improved the way moves are processed. Unless you really want to print as fast as possible mainline is MORE trouble than it is worth.

If you decide to go mainline look at Kalico fork of klipper. Kalico has load cell support making the touchplate for Z height usefull.

There has been a running change in heated beds, hopefully you get the newer spring mounted design. You might want to get some wide kapton tape to “shim” low spots on the build plate. Tape goes on the magnet not on the removable build plate.

And the original PLR function has a (illegal) memory write in the motion loop. Causes problems with high detail prints. See:

Thank you for the heads up . I will no here soon enough on the bed . Hopefully it’s the new one that doesn’t have the taco issues . How is the mother board on these . I have seen some people complaining about them lately
