Need Help connecting SV08 to PC

So how do I connect the SV08 to my PC? I do not want to connect my 3d printer to the internet so I was wondering if I can just plug into the USB port to interface with the SV08. I need to edit the printer.cfg file for updated hardware that was installed. I have never dealt with the firmware side of 3d printing if it isn’t obvious.

There is no easy to connect over USB to Klipper. Moonraker does everything over an IP network.

Depending on your PC you MIGHT be able to make a direct ethernet connection. NOTE your printer is expecting a router to assign an IP address using DHCP.

Easiest way is an old router. Leave the internet port unplugged. Use a cable from printer to router. use cable or wifi to your PC.

It is also possible to configure your main router to isolate a range of IP addresses from the internet. Assign your printer a static IP in the blocked range.

Hello Techrise,

I assume you have a modem/router that is connected to the internet with one port and to your and/or multiple other computers via another port.

If you plug in the printer in one of the local ports that does not mean your printer is accessible from the internet, it only means the printer can access the internet (but in general it will not even try because it has no business there).

If you connect your printer to your router, even via a local RJ45 port, and your router is connected to the Internet, the only way to prevent your printer from connecting to the Internet is to play with the network addressing map.

You can probably disable internet access to the printer in your router settings. Or use “parental controls” on the router and turn off access 24h. Then it can still be accessible on your LAN.
