Hi, I bought this sovol sv06 with a raspberry pi used and while trying to update it I confused the slots and accidentally gave the printer the raspberry software.
putting the correct SD back in the slot didn’t do anything, I got a new SD card and followed all the tutorials on how to format and flash it. I asked ChatGPT (not a fan but sometimes useful for specific tech questions when you really have no idea) and it was trying to tell me to do stuff with the mainboard itself, I DON’T WANT TO DO THAT (without a breathing human telling me to) and an update on a reddit post with a similar problem updated their post with “Edit: it wasn’t a firmware problem, I shorted the board lol
Check the sidebar for cover the power pin on a USB, and do that”
Idk what to do with that honestly, english isn’t my first language and I’m not that into tech.
Pls give me advice on what to try, I have a submission for uni soon and it would be really cool to be able to use my own printer instead of having to pay someone bc all the uni printers have already been reserved :((
@Lion 's links above will restore your machine to the factory state. That is Marlin firmware and is setup to primarily print from a SD card. Octoprint can run on a RPi and will replace the SD card function with a CONTINOUS USB connection.
I’m guessing that your machine has been re-flashed to Klipper firmware. If that is true the stock screen remaining blank is most likely “normal”. Klipper firmware requires a continuous connection with a host computer. Does your RPi have a screen? Do you have the SD card that was in the RPi when you bought it?
Your simplest path is to put the RPi away. Revert to stock printer firmware and print from a SD card.
Once you get your uni project completed then you can get the RPi out and consider Octoprint VS Klipper as your preferred system.
Follow the instructions for flashing marlin firmware.
Pay attention to card size and formatting requirements (especially the sector size).
If the flash doesn’t work change the filename. The board will not flash from a file with the same name as the last one that DID flash.
thank you, I will try this as soon as I have the time to, I had no idea it that you had to change the name. every tutorial was telling me that it had to be called firmware.bin
