the Sovol zero came with a spare hardened steel nozzle. I’d like to safely install this but there are no instructions in the user manual for doing this. I tried pulling the sock off the hotend while it was cold, and it doesn’t seem to budge. I saw instructions and a video for doing this on the SV08 but that has a different hotend assembly and uses different nozzles. Please post instructions for the zero!! Thank you!
Just like an older printer…
remove sock, heat up nozzle, hold the block with pliers, remove nozzle put in new nozzle.
Be careful, a few users have broken the heaters with the pliers on the ACE, SV08 & Zero. They are all different setups, but all have the heater clipped to the block.
If you can’t remove the sock cold, do it hot…there might be filament in it.
Also be careful not to pull off the wires.
There shouldn’t be filament in the sock unless there was a leak between the nozzle and the block, and I haven’t seen any. Looks like if you wrench the block just above the nozzle you should be safe with the heater. I haven’t had any clogs or filament jams in the hot end, only in the extruder gears which were easy to pull the filament out by pressing hard on the release lever and pulling on the filament just above the extruder (removed the bowden tube first).
My Zero had a nozzle that was a bit on the loose side from the factory. Some people have reported filament leaking at the nozzle threads and being between the heat block and silicone sock but not visible from an external inspection, so that’s why Lion suggested trying to remove the silicone sock when the hot end is heated if you’re having trouble removing it with the hot end cool. It’s easy to burn yourself trying to remove the silicone sock while it’s hot so be careful.
If Sovol doesn’t make a maintenance video showing the nozzle changing procedure, one of us should. This is a case where a video would be worth a thousand words.
I’ll try push the sock up a bit to see the top of the nozzle to inspect for filament leak. However I think the reason for the sock being so hard to pull off is that is is acting like a pair of chinese finger hand cuffs as it is so long!
Hi.Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Can you send an e-mail to info@sovol3d.com? As marketing staff, I have reported it to after-sale department. There are more situations about replacing nozzle, which can help after-sales staff understand the problems more clearly.
