Anyone else been having issues with changing nozzles on the sv06 Ace?
Twice I’ve swapped the nozzle and it’s then broken.
First time I twisted the thermistor wires
So that’s on me
This time, I followed the exact guidance, grabbed the heater block, tried to twist the nozzle, but it wouldn’t work. Now I’m getting an error that it’s not heating up correctly, changed the heater, same issue. Seems like at this point it’s better to have multiple heaters spare and swap the entire set out rather than a nozzle
Yes, but to unmount the nozzle, you have to heat the hotend and keep it hot (mind your fingers), then, using the wrench, grab the heating block, and finally, using another wrench, twist the nozzle.
Yeah, I’ve done it previously 100 times without issue
But over time, grabbing hold of the heat block has started to cause damage.
The nozzle was heated to 250 as I was trying to remove it.
I used one spanner on the heat block
And one on the nozzle
The one on the heat block was what damaged the block as it slipped.
I had no problem changing the nozzle.
It’s probably the wrench you use to grip the heat block that doesn’t fit properly.
Have you tried replacing it with a more effective one?
The 4 inch are hard to find but worth the effort. Buy the name brand, the copies never lock properly. Yes it’ll leave a mark but being able to lock it on and leave it hang while you get the wrench situated on the nozzle is priceless.
Just a note of solidarity - I’ve run into similar challenges swapping back and forth between a .4 (for general prints) and .2 (for detailed miniatures). I love this machine, but find the swapping process very finicky. I had already purchased an extra heating block, but I’m considering @Lion’s suggestion of getting a whole extra extruder, since I’ve been swapping so frequently.
My first nozzle swap on the SV06 ACE went just fine. Then when I tried swapping on the PLUS ACE, I ended up with a heater that wouldn’t heat up. Realized I broke the heater cartridge with the wrench. Ordered a replacement nozzle block from Sovol and was back up and running (although shipping took almost 2 weeks
First lesson, get spares. I got a few from amazon…
Tried swapping nozzles again recently and the same thing happened twice. Finally I figured out to be really careful where I put the wrench. Not on the little clip that holds the heater in place, but above it where it’s only touching the heater block and nothing else. Doing it that way I was finally able to get it to work.
