Sv08 tool board goo

I’m having an unusual issue where some sort of goo has been oozing all over my tool board. Not sure if it has anything to do with my tool head ramming the bed when trying to print, but I suspect it might. I did some ABS printing, but only 2 kilo spools worth. Anyone else seen this.

Welcome to the forum.

Sovol (and many other Chinese companies) use hotmelt glue to reduce the likelihood of connectors loosening during shipping. The JST style connector have no locking mechanism.

It always shocks me to see how they just gob the glue on. It peals off pretty easily with tweezers if it bothers you. eventually you will most likely have to peal it off to service the toolhead.

As for head crashes… seems to be a problem effecting a small percentage of all Sovol’s eddy sensor printers. Do you have the eddy probe upgrade on your printer? Looks like it from the picture.

Search the Zero, SV08 Max, and SV08 threads for the last couple months you’ll find several others with similar issues.

I’ve only seen the clear hot glue
I’ve never seen this orange-ish color before…it looks more like a liquid glue…JMO

Yes I have the eddy upgrade, it was working fine for a while, not sure what has changed. I want to upgrade to the 2.5.0 firmware to see if that fixes it.

It didn’t always look like that, I think it got pretty warm.

If that’s true, check that your cooling fans are working.

All of the fans are working on the tool head.

I have printed ABS and ASA a few times, but nothing crazy. I have the enclosure for the printer and that makes me think that temps may have been high.

I sent a message to @sovol3d to see if this is some new glue.

Oxidation of the glue occurred.
