Issue with tow chain in enclosure kit not fitting SV08 3D printer. Please advise if part incorrect or need new way of installing.
Instructions are on the website : SV08 Open Enclosure STL - Google Drive
You can remove several buckle
Also if I remember right…
earlier models had a longer cord, later models had a shorter cord.
but it was posted that the shorter cord wasn’t really shorter, just tucked into a piece of plastic.
Thanks everyone… I looked at the instructions and had a friend who helped me work out how to string the wires with the newer cable design. The instructions in the box had not been updated to reflect the latest design that solved an issue.
I ended up removing two buckles from mine, and routing some of the wires through the buckle that is two buckles away from the gantry connection. I will see if I can snap a picture and post here.
There was no way the cables were going to be long enough with the parts supplied with my enclosure - even with the cable ties in the electronics bay clipped and the wires bow string tight.
The drag chain was already almost taught at full Z so removing a link wasn’t an option for me.
Thanks to the pics in this thread I discovered that my upper chain mount was probably one of the problems. As you can se by the pic below it isn’t the extended version like is in the STL files to print your own.
Rather than put the printer back together and print the proper version (i do have other printer I could use) I chose to drill and tap the mounting bar to simply move the mount to closer to the Z1 stepper. This makes the wire to the Z2 stepper too short. To fix this I just fed the Z2 wire out the side of the drag chain 2 links before the mount and zip tied it to the frame near the stepper.
It works but isn’t right.
Sovol really needs to supply the right parts.
