SV06 ACE Maintenance

Hi all,

I’m having a few noises from the rails on my printer recently
I’ve cleaned them down with IPA, but is there a specific grease to use to lubricate them again?

Also thought it would be good for any other maintenance tips to be added here, so please share them!

Hi,
Personally, I use sewing machine grease.
No need to put more than one drop.

The printer comes with a tube of metal grease CX&HL.

Usually you don’t hear noise in the rail area unless something is loose or a under packed/bad bearing.

There is a definite noise as the X axis carriage moves to the left (as you look at the machine)

I’ve cleaned and added a bit of grease to the rails, but it’s still happening

Anything else I could check?

The toolhead on the Ace is on rollers (Red arrows).

NOTE: my model (sourced from Sovol’s github) is missing all the screws.

Each roller has a ball bearing inside.
Blue arrow is an excentric nut that moves the lower roller in a small circle and controls how tightly the rollers clamp the rail. My guess is you have a bad roller.

@sovol3d - I don’t see the rollers being available to buy.
I don’t know how to tell you how to adjust for the correct amount of clamp.

Rollers could be repacked with grease as a temporary measure to get use out of your printer while you source new rollers but it is a messy undertaking.

Additional note:

The X rail on the Ace should be clean and dry. The rollers should ROLL not slide.

Rails with linear bearings (like the Z rails on the Ace) should have a VERY light film of CLEAN grease on them.

I’ve been printing with it since, still getting the noise on lower layers, but, it seems to go away after layer 4.

It’s very strange and slightly annoying to have.

I’ve also noticed it has suddenly started to ruin the finish on the prints now, at random layers it will potentially collide, or the layer doesn’t adhere correctly, sticks to the nozzle and then ends up ruining the print

It’s a shame, the printer was really good when I first received it, but it seems to be having more and more issues
