Sprite Extruders and slicer profiles

I just purchased a Sprite Pro extruder identical to the one on my Ender 3 S1 Pro. I’ll be cannibalizing the Creality printer, so I’ll have everything needed to replace both stock extruders with Sprites. I’ve already researched the physical conversion and feel confident on that front.

My question is about creating a printer profile in my slicer. I have working SV04 profiles in both Cura and PrusaSlicer, and I primarily use PrusaSlicer. I’d also like to try OrcaSlicer, but it doesn’t seem to have any SV04 profiles available.

I’m running Bjoern’s latest firmware.

Once I’ve dialed in the e-steps, PID, and leveling, I’ll need to tune my slicer profiles. Should I look into adjusting an S1 Pro profile for the SV04’s build volume and dual extruders, or stick with the SV04 profiles and tune from there? I’m leaning toward the latter.

Apologies if this is a loaded question—any input is appreciated.

As far as I can see, from a slicer’s point of view the hardware doesn’t matter. The slicer calls for a temperature and Marlin handles the request. Calls for a length of filament and Marlin handles the request.

The only thing is pressure advance. Different extruders will have different PA values for the same filament. BUT the slicer only stores the PA value for each filament and passes it to Marlin, typically only once. Marlin does the heavy lifting in the planner to apply the PA setting.

Yeah, I figured I was overthinking this … I will be going through the full gamut of tuning procedures anyway.

Sigh. Here I was thinking I did my research, but the cable that is in my S1 Pro ends at the motherboard with a single plug. Now I get to buy a whole new cable for the second extruder. Lucky me.
