PS SOVOL CAN NOT READ!!!
I told them I used. Heat soak for 30 minutes
Hello,
What do you mean when you say you can’t read?
For my part, I read the mail very well.
Sovol email said Heat Soak used 39 minutes used.
But reply says use 30 minutes heat soak so they can NOT read I want my money back
Rubbish waste of money
This is me giving up on wasting my cash
Are you serious?
With bed soak that working not too bad… but you have to pay attention to some points :
1/ When you executing the bed soak, make an auto home at the same time (that help a lot because the probe need to be preheated too).
2/ There is also some adjustement recommanded in klipper (probably that they whan to include in the next release). Something like that : (you may adjust to your need, samples_tolerance is an very important point, lower that will be, better will be the meshing… but longger that will take to start a print)
[probe]
pin: extra_mcu:PB6
x_offset: -17
y_offset: 10
speed: 10 #15.0
samples: 3 #2
sample_retract_dist: 5.0 #2.0
lift_speed: 25 # 50
samples_result: median # average
samples_tolerance: 0.0125 #0.016
samples_tolerance_retries: 10 #2
3/ As they said, with big print, that is more difficult to have a good first layer. So when you can, put your pieces closests as possible. And if you cannot (too big piece), maybe try with upper size for the first layer.
4/ As said in lot of reviews, the probe included in the SV08 is very small and some other options are better (for fews dollars : that is not expensive at all to change it). … But my own opinion is that not too bad like it for me, and i prefer to wait to have a solution including a lidar.
This trouble with the first layer happens generaly for multiple pieces. With only one big piece, that is not a real trouble to do not have a perfect bed meshing.
Inductive Probes like on the SV08 are known to drift due to heat
SOVOL know the bed distorts for bigger prints; do the think they can fix a mechanical issue with firmware
Pay for a new probe a) will not fix a distorted bed, OK may help allow for it a bit that is all.
a) new probe, new steppers, new belts, new nozzle, (anti-fall-out), new bed, new build surface…and so on…
New Printer is a better option or just pack it all in because 98% treat us like beta tester; fix there printers till they bring out Mk.2
The bed will distorts depending of the temperature… that is not unexpected.
Even Sovol suggest bad design, The aluminium is connected to some plastic below and this causes distortion.
( I think like a bi metal strip bends because two mental expand at different rates but are connected together so it bends ).
Someone has suggested loosen the bed heat for 30 minutes and tighten the bed back up like this.
A new firmware will not fix the z-offset / bed mesh problem.
A heat soak is only a workaround, and you have to do heat soak for z-offset, bed mesh and every single print start to have always same warped bed condition.
Here is a real fix for the SV08 bed root cause:

Everything else is workaround, and no fix.
