Sovol SV08 MAX Firmware Upgrade

Yesterday I opened my brand new Sovol SV08 Max printer and tested it printing the small boat that comes with it.

Today I noticed that the printer had a firmware update so I asked it to install the update. That was three hours ago, and it is stuck at 47% since two and a half hours ago. I know that if I turn off the printer it will damage the OS. What should I do?

Hopefully it stuck in the download phase. Does your router show it is connected (I’m assuming WiFi)? There is a SLIGHT chance rebooting your router could force the printer to pause/resume the download. If possible an ethernet cable to the router might accomplish the same thing.

Other than that you’ll have to turn the printer off and reboot. If it was in the middle of writing the updates you’re going to have a non-functional machine.

There are instructions at SV08 Max | Sovol 3D Printer Wiki on recovering the firmware but they require partial disassembly of your printer and a EMMC to USB adaptor like this one

I decided to turn it of and on. Its working. I suspect that the update did something to the screen at that percentage and it stopped showing the progress. The printer is working, But I really haven’t checked if the update was applied or if I was lucky and it got stuck in the download phase.

Thanks for your help @cardoc. I will buy that adapter just in case for any future issue with the firmware update.
