Sovol Klipper Screen / KliPad 50 for other Sovol printers

The topic cannot be clearly assigned here. The Sovol Klipper Screen / KliPad 50 is offered with the SV07 and for the SV06. I would like to use the KliPad 50 with other printers. It should probably be quite easy to implement on the SV01 Pro. The printer is mechanically very similar to the SV06. Adjusting the print area is certainly not the problem and the board seems to be at least similar or even identical despite the Creality imprint. The SV05 is also equipped with the 4.2.2 board. Here the adjustments are likely to be a bit more extensive due to the mechanics. But it should be possible. The SV02 gets exciting with the 8-bit board and the 2 extruders and the optional mixer are added. But this printer would benefit even more from Klipper. I could now continue this with all Marlin printers from Sovol. I would like to initiate a discussion about this. Perhaps someone has already connected the Klipper Screen to other printers and can report on it. But maybe the conclusion is completely different and the recommendation is to install Klipper with a Raspberry Pi. I like the form factor of the KliPad. Changing the Marlin firmware on printers with touchscreens isn’t easy either. That automatically makes you think about Klipper. I find it difficult to understand why the KliPad 50 is not offered for other printers.

OK. Then I’ll start with 2 alternatives to the firmware for the SV01 Pro.
The first option is to use the professional firmware from mriscoc for the Ender-3 V2. However, this requires the Creality display to operate it. However, this Marlin firmware offers everything your heart desires. Input shaping and many other options are included. The crowning glory is the print preview. I use it myself and am very happy with it.

The second option is Klipper and using the DWIN touchscreen from fryc88 in Github. Also taken from a Creality project and adapted. The README file describes a project for adapting the screen of an SV01 Pro 3D printer using the Klipper firmware. It provides detailed instructions for installing the required software and setting up the hardware, including adapting cables and connectors. There are also instructions for updating the firmware, calibrating the printer and troubleshooting.

I didn’t really want to talk to myself. I was hoping that there were a few people here who were interested in the topic and who might have already adapted or replaced the firmware of a Sovol printer themselves. Unfortunately, I’m not sufficiently convinced by the firmware on the printers and would like to change that. I have enough test candidates from Sovol and other manufacturers here for that. Even failure gives me new insights and is not a problem for me. So I would also be happy to receive comments on failed attempts.

Hi,
Make sure a lot of people like me read this thread.
But, maybe a lot of us (me for example) don’t have the skills to help you.

It’s not primarily about providing help. It’s more about exchanging ideas. For a specific problem, I would create a separate topic. I can’t imagine that no one here has changed the firmware on their printer. I can’t possibly be the only one. This is a constant topic in our German forum.

Thank you for your interest! It’s a shame! Without another opinion, there will be no conversation. Then the topic can be closed.
