I have struggled with the weak manual and the lack of support for this printer. I have committed to it and I must resolve the issues of false settings retention.
The issue was on me.
(1) I failed to slow down, evaluate how the printer works and study the manual. I discovered the logical sequence of events and was rewarded with a decent print.
(2) I also failed to check the supplied graphics on the SD card. I re sliced and aligned them, the issue went away.
