Recently relocated printer

I recently bought a new printer and relocated my SV06ACE to work.

My workplace has both a username and password requirement to log into the WiFi - so I’m having a little trouble getting connected.
It’s not an SSID issue - the SSIDs are visible and available.

If y’all have any further advice, I’d appreciate it.

In lieu of that, I’m trying to transfer files via USB to the printer. I’m using a Lexar 64Gb flash drive (formatted exFAT) to pass GCodes from my slicer to the printer, but the printer is not detecting the drive or the files. I think I’m missing a directory, but I cannot find hide nor hair of what to call it. Can someone let me know what I might need to do?

Hi,

You have to ask the credentials to the network admin.

Otherwise, it will be impossible for you to be connected at this network.

Hi Mich,

I have credentials (username and password) but there is no way to enter them directly on the printer.

Sure?

Normally, you can do it via the touchscreen

Yes. I’m sure. It only allows for entering the password.

Maybe your SSID is hidden.

I don’t remember but maybe you have to choose a SSID in a list and just enter the password .

In this case, ask to the admin to make the SSID visible for one moment

Hi Mich,

The SSID is not hidden. I can see every access point in range of the printer.

Let me see, I’m gonna check on my printer

Can you click on the right SSID?

In the right-hand pane of the network list, I can click on the appropriate SSID.

The system then asks me to enter the password.

Do you experience the same behavior?

I experience the same behaviour. Even when entering the correct password, logging on to my work’s wireless network requires both a username and a password to be entered. Without both, I cannot connect.

Well, I’m not sure, but I think your network uses two-level protection.

The first level is to obtain permission to connect, and the second is to actually connect.

In this case, it’s best to ask your administrator.

Sorry

Oh, well, thank you for your time.

It was a pleasure.

Flash drive wise, use Fat32 with 4k allocations to see it.

The Sovol SV06 ACE has 2.4 GHz WPA2 only, WPA3 is not supported. What protocol do you use at work?

Use a smaller USB or try to re-format it as FAT32, not exFAT.

Thank you kindly, the reformat worked like a charm.

Good question. WPA2 Enterprise, I think.

The Sovol network security “features” top out at WPA2. Your work network likely has higher requirements.

Is the printer in use for activities in support of your job? If so ask work IT dept. to provide a linux supported USB to WiFi dongle compatible with their WiFi. A USB to ethernet adapter could also work if a wired network port is nearby.
Configuring a USB WiFi adapter will most likely need a temporary serial connection to SSH in and set it up.
