Is anyone printing TPU filament with their SV07 / SV07 Plus?
Any success or failure reports?
What filament / which Shore hardness did you use?
See here for explanation of the hardness values.
Hello,
What could be the difference between printing TPU with a SV07+ and a SV06+?
It should be a matter of speed, retraction and temperature, right?
One difference would be that that SV06+ ships without Klipper (Yes, I’m aware that it is possible to buy it with the Klipper screen in a combo). Other than that, I do not know (I don’t have an SV06+). It could be many things; different cooling? Different extruder? That is the reason why I’m primarily interested in SV07 / SV07 Plus reports.
The last time I printed TPU I used a Prusa i3 MK3 which belongs to the local makerspace.
I understand but, what I can tell you is that I have a SV06+ without Klipper and I had no difficulty printing TPU with it.
But, the point is, I don’t print often with this filament.
What filament settings did you use?
I do what I usually do: I copy the generic profile in PrusaSlicer (for the Prusa printers). But when I copy “Generic FLEX”, I’m a bit at a loss here: this filament profile has the cooling fan turned off. The instructions for the filament I’m using (Update: TPU 95A) is nozzle temp: 220 - 240 degrees Celsius, bed temp: 50 - 75 degrees Celsius, print speed: 30 - 100 mm/s, fan speed: 100%. So having the fan off sounds wrong to me.
I’ve printed A LOT of TPU on my SV07.
My Orca installation has fan at 100% for generic TPU. I lowered it to 85% for noise reasons.
Most of the TPU I did was with a 0.6mm nozzle (brass). Make sure your filament is absolutely dry. It strings like crazy if even slightly damp.
Print your first layer stupid slow. Like 5-7mm/s slow. Once the base is down the layer adhesion is fantastic.
Ah - some feedback, nice!
Is the fan on for all layers? Or is the first x layers without fan? (as for example PLA, x = 3?)
speed settings - do you create a separate print profile for TPU?
(I wish i wasn’t five years since the last timeI printed with TPU…)
Use care I often tweak speed and flow manually as the first layers go down. I don’t recall if I slowed down or printed at 100%.
I have flow rate set at 1.075 in filament settings and if I recall correctly ran 102-105% at runtime.
FWIW, I posted my working settings here TPU print settings
