Possible To Add Hotend Offset Setting For Z Axis In Firmware?

The SV04 includes a setting to adjust the X and Y axis offset for each extruder. Could the Z axis offset adjustment be added?

My SV04 extruders are very close to each other after many adjustment attempts by hand. Even with anticipating the slight change that happens when tightening the four setscrews for the right extruder, it seems too course for the tolerances needed in 3D printing.

I think it would be nice if the Z axis offset could be adjusted (and saved) in firmware after mechanical setup.

Thanks.
@Bjoern , I’m thinking of you :wink:

Hi again,
in theory, it is possible to define a Z-offset between both nozzles. In practice, the lower placed nozzle will wipe away anything that the other nozzle has printed before.
You’ll need to be patient when leveling the nozzles. If the setscrews change the right nozzle height, you can add an offset before tightening the setscrews. Alternatively, press the right extruder a little bit from the front against the gantry when leveling its height with the top thumbscrew iot avoid it from turning & changing its height afterwards.

Hi Björn. Thanks.

Yes, after thinking about it, my idea would not work in copy or mirror modes. I am usually working in two colors/one object when I use both extruders, so the compensation appeared to be a doable idea.

Thanks for the tips on setup. I usually do try to compensate for the slight movement when tightening the setscrews, so I am real close, but was interested in any improvements I could think of.

Thanks.
