Got my Max about 3 months ago for the larger format (other unit Qidi Plus4). I purchased it from the ebay store not knowing that the main Sovol Team wouldn’t support it (not sure of the relationship there). Ebay group still has been great in terms of response and sending parts. I did a couple of really nice large prints that I even posted videos on.
Not sure what happened but started getting layer shifting, especially on the larger prints and some really poor (shark-skin rough) top layers. Support had me tension the belts which seemed to help although this frequency method seems fruitless to me. I have a tension meter but can’t seem to find a published tension for this model.
I did the DKEU which was a fabulous experience in terms of better understanding the software and relationship with the printer. However still suffered quality issues especially on the larger prints. Started poking around and found the X-axis bearing wasn’t gliding freely. After disassembly the rail was kinda chewed up and seemed to be missing a few bearings. Support is sending me a new rail kit so hope this will help.
While I’m waiting, have been looking at this modded gantry and toolhead by CN3d- wondering if anyone has done these mods?
I don’t expect these machines to be perfect (don’t like to hear the bashers) as this technology is far from perfect and changes daily. And I am an admitted “tinkerer”- I can’t leave anything alone so I contribute to a lot of my problems.
Reminds me of the early PC days where we were constantly swapping cards and chips in pursuit of customization perfection (really eyeing that INDX and the Spectrum slicer mix).
