New sv 07 rough noise and vibrations

I got my printer a few days ago and today it started to have a rough noise and vibrations. They get better on hugher layers and almost dissaper on layers >20. By listening and feeling the machine I think they come from the x axis or somewhere along the extruder.

Any ideas as to what is causing it?

SOLVED:

I had somehow calibrated the zofset and bed level slightly wrong so that the printhead just barely ran into the infill.

Have you checked that everything is still securely screwed down? No loose beams, not tight enough belts?
Also, check the carriage - it should move freely on the X axis, but it should not “wobble” or tilt around the axes.

Everything seems tight. I have already checked that the exttruder doesnt wobble but I’ll check if the wheels are too tight. I am not sure what is the right tightness for the belts. Currently I have them just tight enugh that they produce a low noise when plucked.

Check all the hardware first, but if everything is right there, then check your settings, firstly ensure all the speeds are a sensible starting place (acceleration ~4000, jerk ~9, max speed ~200mm/s, retractions ~30mm/s). If they are try doing harmonics with accelerometer, I didn’t have any big issue here myself but if its a resonant frequency concern with one exact speed that WOULD explain why it changes with layer height (the higher the gantry is the longer the resonant frequency).

Also did it make the noise using the filiment from inside the package and gcode that arrived on the flashdrive? If so, you can confirm your issue isn’t software, but something physical to find. If not, you can be pretty sure its a setting that causes it to be noticeable (but that doesn’t mean its not because something is slightly too loose/tight and just you get away with it on more optimized configs).

But seriously, double check those wheels/belts, programing around a hardware fault will see the printer only ever go slowly and you replacing parts far sooner than if it was set up right to begin with, and frankly the Quality Contron on pre-assembly Sovol does is NOT there selling point, most machines seemed to have one thing weird somewhere (my rear fan wasn’t working, the person who recommended the printer to me had a stepper bolt finger tight that slipped, and I’ve also seen a extruder gear being loose enough to move, in all three cases it took a few days to figure out the WHY on a printer that was otherwise doing decent quality. It shouldn’t sound like that, fix it while its still preventative, don’t keep printing normal parts till it fails.

A video example of Vwheel noise, and showing how to adjust, replace (where to get replacements cheap, I bought the same set as spares), and a few things to know about adjusting them. https://youtu.be/xKYpWhFqGZU?si=7_T4Lz_dMCzHYV83

Glad you got it sorted.
