MCU ‘extra_mcu’ shutdown:Timer too close
This often indicates the host computer is overloaded. Check
for other processesconsuming excessive CPU time, high swap
usage, disk errors, overheating, unstable voltage, or
similar system problems on the host computer.
Once the underlying issue is corrected, use the
“FIRMWARE_RESTART” command to reset the firmware, reload the
config, and restart the host software.
Printer is shutdown
I never had this error until I flashed to the new firmware that was released. Anybody have any ideas on what might have changed? I kept the same settings I had before and I’m wondering if there is someone new that I have missed in the configs.
Hello I had a similar problem but not the same. After flashing the firmware to the latest version I found the printer stuck with error code 8. It was only on without workload and it blocked in that state. I had to turn it off and on again.
Before updating the FW I had several episodes of error code 3 that analyzed by sovol engineer they said that it was “TIME TOO CLOSE” and overload. They advised me to reload the FW on the mcu of the extruder and the motherboard.
I will update in the future. https://wiki.sovol3d.com/en/How-to-burn-firmware-to-the-motherboard-adapter-board
That seems to have fixed the errors, but what did they change in the downloadable firmware that caused the problem? Luckily I had the STLINK emulator, but everyone is not going to have one handy.
GerGo experienced the same problem too, and describes his solution in this video
According him, since he installed the ferrite bead on the USB cable going towards print head, the problem hasn’t occured again since. His idea is that it’s a timing problem, and somehow, it appears, exposed when HF is allowed to cause interference.
Hi I saw that GerGo video and I put the ferrite donuts on the cable that goes to the head tool. At the moment it does not have that problem but I updated the firmware and I found other problems such as error code 8 or printer blocked without messages on the display, it needs to be restarted. In these last two cases the printer was on and ready for several hours without work.
