The Sovol site mentions the importance of maintenance but doesn’t provide much in the way of guidance. Just a pretty generic bullet list of tasks to perform periodically. For example it mentions lubing belts once a week – but with what? Graphite powder? Sewing machine oil? Something else?
Anyone aware of a maintenance guide/schedule? Even something third-party. The nearest I’ve found is a couple of resources for the SV08 non-MAX and a couple of the other printers like the SV06.
I use Sewing Machine Oil on all my printers.
I do not own a Max, once once a week seems excessive to me.
I would do once a month, but it all depends on how much printing your doing.
The belts should NOT be lubed with anything ever. The belt rollers need lube but I thought they had sealed ball bearings so oil on the outside won’t help the bearings.
The linear slides need lubrication.
Method 3 using silicone grease is the preferred method if you can access the ports.
Ok! So! Here’s about all I could find on the Sovol site:
which does mention lube but does not mention lubing belts. On other forums, including reddit I think, folks mentioned lubing belts and that was sort of counter my expectations. Which is why I came here to ask if there was something like a service manual. For example, with most motorcycles and automobiles the manufacturer will either offer, maybe for sale, a service manual or many times you can get one from a third-party.
Doesn’t sound like that exists for Sovol(s). Counter to other comments here, I’m not finding a lot in the way of general 3d printer maintenance guidance either. Certainly not at the level of, say, a dirt bike like I mentioned above.
FWIW, I have never lubed a toothed belt on a 3D printer. What you want is to keep it (and the wheels) as free of debris / contaminants as you can.
Just my 0.002 eurocents.
