Every time I turn the power on to the printer, I get the “Klipper Connecting” message, I was wondering if it’s normal for this to take about 2 min or if mine was slow. Also each time I disconnect the USB to add a new file and plug it back in, it doesn’t show this message but it takes about 2 min to reestablish connection and display accurate temps or allow me to start the next print. Is there something I can do to fix this time delay?
I’d say my ACE takes about 45 seconds to connect.
As for the USB, I don’t think I’ve ever pulled it out while it was on.
Either I already put the file on the USB & then turned it on…or
if I already had it on, I just send the file over Wi-Fi through Orca.
I have the Plus ACE and it takes roughly a minute to connect after turning on. I haven’t really used the usb much. It’s spent more time connected to the PC then it has in the printer itself. After setup, did you check to see if the software was up to date on the printer?
Since it’s not possible to unmount the USB storage device on the printer, the printer would have to be shut down first to remove the storage device. The printer’s internal Klipper computer isn’t a fast computer. It takes some time even to boot the mini-Linux. So, this isn’t a solution. But it’s not a problem if you use the Wi-Fi network.
Does the Ace have a shutdown button to allow Armbian to unmount/cleanup or are you simply flipping off the switch?
The Klipad that came with my SV07 actually has supercapacitors to keep the CPU running for a few seconds after the power gets cut to do a “clean exit”. For reference following a “proper” shutdown via the klipperscreen shutdown button it takes about 45 seconds to boot to klipperscreen and another 20-45 seconds to locate and initialize the MCU.
I have never put a gcode on a USB (for this machine) so I can’t comment on those speeds. You can upload directly to the printer from Orca and still start the print from the touchscreen. Unless your printer has sketchy WiFi coverage why fool with the USB drive. If WiFi is bad be VERY cautious with your OTA upgrades.
Hi,
The ACE haven’t un shutdown button.
You have to use the web UI to do so.
Does “shutting down” reduce the boot time VS just flipping the switch?
No, it’s the same.
I shut down beforehand to do things smoothly.
I don’t like to turn off a machine without shutting it down first.
I just shut the printer off by the switch.
