They are already available but only for selected people. 3DPrintdemon has INDX installed on one of his SV08 Max and is busy testing. He said it looks promising.
Seems Sovol is not interested in releasing an official INDX kit for the SV08 Max. They spend their efforts on the kickstarter for their new IDEX toolchanger. Imo we will see a lot of new real toolchanger in the 300 - 350 mm range this year. Unless they sell it damn cheap I don‘t see a market for this IDEX. But I may be wrong.
Bondtech has an SV08 & a MAX for testing.
US$1500 is not what I’d call cheap. IDEX has some advantages but I’m more interested in INDX.
I‘ve had an IDEX printer, the Snapmaker J1. Tried 2 years to fix all the issues and sold it in the end with big loss.
The copy and mirror mode sounds to be a big thing, in practical use it is not at least not for me. I’ve used it probably 3 times in the 2 years mostly to showcase the functionality. It is an amost hypnotic experience to watch. My X1C usually finished the print in the same time due to its higher speed (less weight with a single head than a 2 heads gantry) and I could use the buildplate much more efficiently with less restrictions.
Biggest problem with IDEX was that the J1 did not use a bedmesh to compensate for unevenness of the bed. It relied instead on a PEI coated glass bed and semi-manual nozzle offset calibration, which never worked well.
Seems Sovol has found a way to use bedmesh with IDEX. I don’t know how they do it. Maybe they use it only for single head prints.
I’m sure there will be an INDX solution for MAX. Whether it is a “commercially packaged” solution or not, it will be available.
