Has this ever happened to you?
My last few prints ended up with the filament too close to the bed even though I had set the Z offset before each new print.
Today I decided to install a new Microswiss nozzle and what did I find? The two screws that hold the heater into the print head had come completely loose and were still there but held from falling out by the silicone boot. Essentially the nozzle and hot end were falling out (down) and resting on the print bed as it moved around.
I’ve put the screws back in and snugged it up, but should, or could, I use something like lock tight to keep this from happening again. I don’t know about the effect of the heat on lock tight.
Your thoughts?
There are high temperature thread lockers, including Loctite brand.
I, however, haven’t seen any chronic issues with these particular screws. I’d tighten them and then keep an eye on them and wait and see before resorting to thread locker.
PSA - Mind the expiration date. Old thread locker can interfere with the initial assembly and make you think things are properly “tight” when they aren’t.
It just happened to my sv07. I was able to tighten one of the screws thanks to this post; however, the other screw is missing. I do not see it anywhere. I even checked inside the platform. Does anyone know where I can get another screw without purchasing a whole new unit?
I lucked out. The screws both completely backed out but in my case the silicon nozzle sock kept them from falling away.
I’d take the one you do have to a good hardware store. Odds are very strong they will have one of the proper thread and dimensions.
Good luck.
Send an email to info@sovol3d.com to ask for a replacement screw.
